Fantastic Excursion

Lovely evening. 0*C on top of Mt. Seymour. Soft snow on trail favours the use of studs. 50 minutes walk. And what to say more than this magnificent scenery.

Date: Wednesday February 16th:
Moonrise: @ 5:36pm & Sunset @ 5:34pm
Meeting Place: Parking lot corner of Mt Seymour Road & Anne MacDonald Way, located a few yards upper than Parkgate Village Shopping Mail & Parkgate Community center & Library.
Meeting Time: 3:30 pm
Snowshoeing departure at the trail end @ 4:20pm

A few times in the past years we have organized snowshoeing excursions at night to admire the rise of the full moon and the sunset from Vancouver’s best rooftops at Black mountain on Cypress and Dog Mountain on Seymour.

The weather forecast for Vancouver is 7*C  sun & clouds.  Up on the mountain it is a few degrees less, expecting 3*C.  The outing will be canceled only if the weather doesn’t permit to admire the spectacle.

I choose Dog Mountain on Seymour which is a moderate intermediate trail.  2.2km one way, light undulations.
We will regroup at 3.30pm in the parking lot. Drive up to the ski centre and park at the far northwest end of the parking as possible, 3:35-4:10pm. (No parking pass needed after 4:00pm).

Things to bring:

  • Snowshoes, crampons/studs, poles
  • Headlamp
  • Water & snack
  • Spare clothes
